Born and raised on a family farm in Allen County, my parents taught me that hard work, dedication, respect and finishing what you started are characteristics that will help you succeed in life. Whether I was helping on the farm or working part-time at our family’s construction business, I learned important life lessons on how to accomplish goals and complete tasks. These lessons along with my studies and professional experiences have prepared me to serve as Allen County Commissioner.
I graduated from Delphos St. Johns in 1995 and went on to earn my Bachelor of Arts Degree from The Ohio State University in 1999. While studying for my degree, I interned for the Ohio House of Representatives and began a career in public service that has spanned 14 years. During this time I have served in the Ohio House of Representatives, the Ohio Department of Agriculture and the Lima Office of Congressman Jim Jordan.
As a legislative aide in the Ohio House, I worked for elected officials including then State Representative Keith Faber. I was responsible for the legislative operations of the office including researching and drafting policy regarding the state budget, agriculture and environmental issues. At the Ohio Department of Agriculture, I served as the department’s legislative liaison and was responsible for all policy and legislative matters before the General Assembly while working with Ohio’s legislators on issues involving the department’s regulatory role. Currently, I serve as Congressman Jim Jordan’s Deputy District Director where I monitor issues within the congressional district and work with local governments, business leaders, civic organizations, and individuals on issues involving the federal government.
My family and work experience has defined and refined the principles I live by. These experiences have shaped my conservative beliefs and a foundation firmly built on President Reagan’s fundamental principles: lower taxes to stimulate the economy and less government interference in people’s lives. I believe that when these principles are implemented, a growing economy and a prosperous county will result.
I am a member of the Allen County Township Association, board member of the Allen County Port Authority and serve on a number of local task forces. I am a member of the National Rifle Association, the Allen County Republican Party, the Lima Noon Sertoma Club, the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation and Ohio Right to Life.
I have been married to my high school sweetheart, Dionna since September of 2000 and we have two children, Zachary and Alexa. We attend St. Charles Borromeo Parish.
I am pleased to be raising my children in the county where Dionna and I grew up. I will work each day to serve and enhance our county for future generations. I believe the County Commission is a unique opportunity to lead our great county and I look forward to serving as Allen County Commissioner.
